Fourth of July activities set
Towns throughout Maine are planning activities ranging from parades and barbecues to pancake breakfasts and fireworks to celebrate the country’s independence this weekend.
CAMDEN — Family Fun Day, July 3, Camden Snow Bowl. Ski lift rides to top of Ragged Mountain, mountain biking, family fun and games, food and picnics, music, biplane fly-overs. www.camdensnowbowl.com.
CAMDEN — Camden Harbor Fireworks, 9 p.m. July 3, sponsored by Camden-Rockport Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce and Camden Premier Inns. Watch from Harbor Park, restaurant terrace or on the water. Rain date, July 5. www.visitcamden.com.
CAMDEN — Music by the Sea, Camden Rotary Club free community concert, 1-5 p.m. July 5, Harbor Park. SEARSPORT — Fourth of July Parade, 11 a.m., Norris Street, proceeds benefit the Dan Rich Public Safety Building. Parade includes a Searsport Historical Society float honoring World War II veterans, who are encouraged to take part in parade. Sign-up sheet for veterans who want to participate in parade available at Town Office. After parade, ceremony honoring veterans at auction site next to Methodist Church on Elm Street. All welcome. SWANVILLE — Swan Lake Association, annual boat parade, noon July 4, public boat launch. Prizes for best-decorated V-hull and party boats. Theme is Fourth of July on Maine lakes, so come as a fish or Uncle Sam. All boats, decorated or undecorated, welcome to join in the parade.

BANGOR — Fourth of July barbecue, 3-8 p.m. Saturday, sponsored by Bangor area Kiwanis clubs, parking lot near Shaw’s, Main Street. Cheeseburger, hamburger or hotdog basket with chips and soda, $3.50. Raffle for leather golf bag and a basketball hoop.

BREWER-BANGOR —
Greater Bangor Kiwanis Club Fourth of July Parade, 11 a.m. Saturday, forms 10 a.m. junction of Acme Road and Wilson Street, Brewer. Veterans park at Brewer Auditorium. World War II veterans, then Korean War, Vietnam War, Veterans of Global War on Terrorism. National Guard and Reserve veterans with era groups in which they served. Parade route down Wilson Street, across Chamberlain Bridge, down Main Street in Bangor, up State Street, turn right onto Exchange Street. First Student Buses for veterans needing to ride the route. Buses will be along Wilson Street, Brewer, before parade; on Exchange Street, Bangor, after parade.
BREWER — Bangor area Kiwanis chapters, pancake breakfast, 6-10 a.m. July 4, Brewer Auditorium. Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, strawberries from Tate’s farm, Hormel sausage. $4.50, $3.50 under 12.
